Labour Party (LP) Senatorial Candidate for Anambra South, Hon. Chuma Nzeribe, has declared that the support of party leader Mr. Peter Obi and governorship candidate Chief George Moghalu has turned his campaign into a political juggernaut ahead of the upcoming bye-election.

Speaking shortly after receiving his Certificate of Return at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Nzeribe said the endorsement from Obi and Moghalu has solidified his grassroots appeal and positioned Labour Party for a decisive victory.

“This is a game-changer. With Mr. Obi and Chief Moghalu behind us, our campaign has gained unstoppable momentum. Every ward is being activated. We are not just participating — we are winning,” Nzeribe said.

The former federal lawmaker clinched the party’s ticket with 367 votes against Anagwu Fredrick Emeka, who polled 213. The July 20 primaries were monitored by INEC and widely commended for transparency.

Nzeribe praised his opponent for his sportsmanship, revealing that both camps have now unified. “Fredrick congratulated me immediately. The next day, both of us met with Chief Moghalu to align our structures. That is the Labour Party spirit — unity, not division.”

On his legislative priorities, Nzeribe promised to tackle the growing insecurity in Anambra South, calling the zone “a theatre of fear.” He pledged bold reforms in security coordination and rapid investments in infrastructure, especially power and road rehabilitation.

“My own LGA, Ihiala, has had no electricity for over three months. That is unacceptable. Infrastructure and security will be my first moves at the Senate,” he said.

Responding to speculation about internal party divisions, Nzeribe dismissed it as exaggerated: “There is no real crisis. What you see are routine political disagreements, and our leaders are resolving them behind closed doors. The party is solid.”

Presenting the Certificate of Return, Labour Party National Chairman Barr. Julius Abure described Nzeribe as “the right man at the right time,” noting his background as a former state security adviser and his long record in public service.

“Anambra South needs serious leadership to reverse the climate of fear. The murder of our State Assembly member shook us all. We believe Chuma Nzeribe is best placed to bring stability and results,” Abure stated.

The Labour Party now eyes Anambra South as a crucial battleground in its push to expand senatorial presence across the Southeast, with Obi and Moghalu’s visible involvement injecting star power and strategic depth into the campaign.
