Sunshine Democratic Forum (SDF) has raised concerns over alleged attempts by some individuals to incite political tension and instability in Ondo State.

Coordinator of the group, Adedeji Obasola, in a statement yesterday, noted that the group received reliable information indicating that local politicians are collaborating with Abuja-based allies to orchestrate a coordinated political witch-hunt aimed at key officials in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration.

The SDF specifically noted plans to deploy security agencies to intimidate prominent members of the State Executive Council, including Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN; Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac, and Chief of Protocol, Olusanya Abayomi, using baseless allegations.

The group described the actions as unacceptable and warned that they would fiercely oppose any attempts to transform Ondo State into a political battleground or distract Governor Aiyedatiwa from fulfilling his mandate.

The SDF also alerted the public to activities by certain sponsored political groups masquerading as Civil Society Organisations, heavily financed to incite unrest and turn the people against their government.

The group called on security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to uphold professionalism and neutrality, and not allow themselves to be entangled in partisan politics or used to destabilise the state.
The Forum gave the warning as Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, wife of Ondo State governor, hailed her husband’s visionary leadership and dedication to the welfare of residents, saying his people-focused approach was driving development across the state’s 18 local councils.

Speaking at an event yesterday in Akure, the Ondo First Lady said the state was witnessing steady economic growth and transformative projects under the governor’s administration.

She also praised Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to female leadership, noting his unwavering support for women’s empowerment and self-reliance as key to the state’s economic advancement.

“I must acknowledge and appreciate the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his visionary leadership and people-centred governance,” she said.
