The federal lawmaker representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba, has described as mere rumour the alleged move by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to grant automatic tickets to lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ipinsagba, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Affairs, while speaking with newsmen yesterday, said that no such decision had been taken at any level, stressing that the speculation lacked merit.
The senator, however, stressed that while rewarding outstanding performance was a laudable idea, the lawmaker reflected on his two-year tenure in the Senate, particularly on his legislative and infrastructural interventions across the six local councils of the state.
He said, “As a procedural person. Anything that is not written, I don’t believe in it. It’s an insinuation. People are thinking ahead of things. Well, if it is the thought of the people, who am I to fault it? There is no place where such a decision was taken.”
Ipinsagba, who reiterated his commitment to delivering quality representation and attracting federal projects to the senatorial district, assured that the proposed Information and Communication Technology in Ikare-Akoko would soon receive the desired nod.
On the proposed creation of Ose State, he said that a bill on it had already passed its first reading in the House of Representatives, saying that when it comes before the Senate, the senators will engage in robust discussions and ensure that the people’s interests are represented.
