The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Jackie Wayas as its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, marking a notable development in the party’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections. Wayas, a political strategist with experience in grassroots mobilisation and digital advocacy, will be responsible for managing the party’s conventional media engagements.
Wayas previously played a significant role in the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign and was involved in the Obidient movement. Her appointment reflects the ADC’s intention to bring younger voices and fresh perspectives into its leadership structure. Party officials described her role as crucial in shaping the ADC’s public image and communicating its vision for governance.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar commented on the appointment, recognising it as a meaningful step towards including young leaders in substantive political positions. “Placing young leaders in substantive roles rather than ceremonial positions is important for genuine youth inclusion,” he said.
