Zamfara State House of Assembly has approved two key bills for the improvement of road infrastructure across the state.

This was made known in a statement issued by Bello Madaro Kurya, Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The bills are the law to establish the Zamfara State Urban and Rural Access Roads Authority (ZURARA) and another to establish the Zamfara State Roads Fund Board.

Both bills were designed to strengthen the management, planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of Class B, C, and D roads in the state.

Speaking on the bills, Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe, said they would ensure the completion of road projects and the provision of access roads in both urban and rural areas under the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal.

He explained that the laws would also help the governor deliver on his rescue agenda, particularly in road construction and economic development.

Lawmakers who contributed during the sitting expressed happiness that rural dwellers, who have suffered poor road conditions for years, would now benefit from the new initiative.

They gave their full support for the bills. After deliberations, the Speaker, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, who presided over the session, announced that the House had unanimously given the bills their first and second readings.

He later directed the Clerk, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, to give them third and final readings.
