Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, insisting that the CP’s continued presence can no longer guarantee security in the state.

The governor also called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser to urgently intervene in the security architecture of Kano to avert an impending security threat.

Yusuf’s red alert followed the conspicuous absence of the Commissioner of Police, along with police officers and men, at the Sani Abacha Stadium during the Independence Day parade.

The police are accused of breaking a longstanding tradition of leading the parade by withdrawing from the parade ground and leaving the governor with only personnel from the Civil Defence, Immigration, Prisons, and other paramilitary agencies.

Addressing a mass crowd at the event, Governor Yusuf accused the CP of partisanship in the state’s politics and vowed to personally submit a petition against the police leadership in Kano.
