Two ex-Chelsea players, Franck Alain Leboeuf and William Gallas, have clamoured for Enzo Maresca’s side to sign Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Blues recently completed the acquisition of 22-year-old English striker, Liam Delap, from Ipswich Town for £30m. The Manchester City Academy Graduate penned a six-year deal with the two-time UEFA Champions League winners.

While the need to get a prolific goalscorer was imminent, considering the season they just had, two former Chelsea players are still not satisfied with Delap’s deal, as they want the security of goals that comes with Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen, in the just-concluded season with Galatasaray, scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 games across all competitions, winning the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish League Cup titles.

The Napoli loanee is available for a fee of £64m, but it appears Chelsea are backing away from the deal due to the wage demands of the 26-year-old.

Leboeuf, who played over a century of games for Chelsea, told ESPN he’s happy with Delap’s move to Stamford Bridge, but maintained Osimhen would’ve been a better option.

“I am happy with the Delap deal. I don’t know what’s going to happen with him, but we need a striker, we desperately need a striker.

‘He’s a great, great player. Will he fit into Enzo Maresca’s system? Hopefully yes. He had a very good season, but I like Osimhen.”

Gallas, on the other hand, spoke to Prime Casino. The 47-year-old, like Mikel Obi, maintained certainty that Osimhen is the striker to take Chelsea to the next level.

“Chelsea have been linked with a lot of different strikers. You’ve got the boy Liam Delap, he’s had a great debut season in the Premier League, and he has a big future.

“Other names like [Viktor] Gyokeres and [Benjamin] Sesko have been putting in good performances for their respective clubs on the continent, but I would be signing Osimhen, all day long, every day, twice on Sunday.”

“I know what he can do, I know what he can bring to the Chelsea squad. I think he’d be perfect for the wingers there, because they aren’t the kind that just send in crosses. They come inside and shoot, or look for a pass.

“If you play with a substandard striker, then inverted wingers take more chances to shoot for themselves, or take up the space that you’d expect a striker to be in.

“That’s why I think Osimhen is perfect for them, he can be a leader, and a real presence in attack,” the Frenchman concluded.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have struggled to impress in the last two seasons at Stamford Bridge, hence the need for the signature of a prolific goalscorer in Chelsea’s attack.
