The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Alumni Association (MAPALUM), Lagos chapter, has promised to work together with the United Kingdom (UK), Ireland and Europe chapter of the institution, which was inaugurated at the weekend in London.
Chairman, MAPOLY Lagos Alumni chapter, Gafar Odubote, in his message after the inauguration of the body, described the occasion as a milestone win for the global alumni network.
The newly inaugurated executives include Kunle Orekoya as Chairman, Gbenga Yeku (Secretary), Deji Abioye (Treasurer), Margaret James (Welfare & Ireland Coordinator) and Razak Ashiru as a member of the executives.
Odubote said that the occasion signified a clear demonstration of the Diaspora team’s leadership and dedication to fostering unity, visibility and continued excellence within the MAPOLY alumni community across international borders.
He reiterated that the Lagos chapter was proud of the achievement and remained fully committed to supporting the growth of the UK, Ireland & Europe chapter.
Chairman of the Lagos alumni chapter said that the partnership between the Lagos chapter and the new chapter would lead to the strengthening of the ties between the two and create lasting benefits for both local and Diaspora communities.
He appealed to the new chapter to create robust professional development opportunities for members and students of the institution, which would lead to the empowerment of individuals, enhancement of their skills, and ensure the advancement in their careers.
Besides, he advised the new chapter to create an online form or directory, which could be used to propagate information across all chapters, especially for those in the Diaspora.
In his speech, National President of MAPALUM, Ezekiel Obasanya, said that apart from networking and reunion, the association’s four areas of opportunities available to alumni included business and entrepreneurship, individual development, community action and international cooperation.
Obasanya, who congratulated Orekoya and other executive members of the association for their doggedness and tenacity in bringing the chapter to bear, said: “The National Executive Council (NEC) is proud of this achievement and remains fully committed to supporting the growth of the UK, Ireland and Europe chapter.”
Also, Past National President, Olalekan Otun, on behalf of CODA, pledged to refer and connect alumni based abroad to UK chapter and the provisional USA and North America chapter.
He further urged the UK chapter to create directory and social media platforms that could be shared to various sets in the Diaspora to join the chapter.
