The Yobe State All Progressives Congress (APC) Critical Stakeholders Forum has endorsed former Secretary to the State Government, Baba Wali, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The decision was contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja.
The forum described Wali as “a seasoned technocrat with the adequate qualification, patience, and temperament for good leadership and governance,” noting that his long service in successive administrations positioned him for continuity in the state’s development agenda.
Stakeholders said his experience in government makes him well-suited to sustain ongoing policies and programmes in Yobe State.
The party had earlier agreed to adopt a consensus mode for selecting its candidates.
The forum also reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Governor Mai Mala Buni and former governor, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, who chairs the forum, said the party would continue dialogue aimed at strengthening unity within its ranks.
