The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State, on Thursday, organised a roadshow to raise public interest and boost awareness about the ongoing voter registration exercise across the state.
Speaking at the event, INEC Administrative Secretary in the state, Aliyu Bello, said the exercise aims to encourage eligible citizens who have not registered to do so without delay and to promote inclusivity in the democratic process.
“Every new voter registered represents a stronger democracy, a louder voice for the people, and a future shaped by their choices,” he said.
Bello also urged the media to sustain public sensitisation efforts by spreading the message widely.
Abdullahi Sale Dama, Head of Voter Education, noted that a significant number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from the 2022 Continuous Voter Registration exercise remain uncollected.
“The rally is part of our strategy to engage with the people. We are considering conducting market outreaches. In addition, we have information materials and fliers that will be distributed to the public, and we will continue to interact with the media to publicise our activities,” he said.
