Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the defection of Hon. Marahazu Faru, member representing Maradun Constituency in the State House of Assembly, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by the PDP State publicity secretary, Haliru Andi, the party said it respects Faru’s personal choice and was not surprised.
“History has shown that those who put personal interest above the collective will of the people often find themselves on the wrong side of history. The PDP remains the only party with a genuine commitment to the rescue and rebuilding of Zamfara State”, Andi added.
“The APC, which Hon. Faru has joined, is the very cause of the hunger, insecurity, and corruption ravaging our state and the entire nation. It was under the APC that Zamfara was brought to its knees — where banditry thrived, workers suffered, and public resources were mismanaged. The people of Zamfara can never forget the years of pain and neglect they endured under the APC”
“Under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, the PDP government is steadily restoring hope, rebuilding institutions, and securing the lives and livelihoods of our people. The ongoing reforms and development initiatives are clear proof that the PDP is the party of progress and compassion”

Come the next elections, our party will win overwhelmingly at all levels from the wards to the national stage — because the PDP remains the true party of the masses”
“We call on our members and supporters to remain steadfast and proud. No defection can shake our foundation or stop the will of the people. The PDP remains strong, united, and deeply rooted in the hearts of Zamfarans.”
The Guardian reported that about 15 officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, including state and zonal executives, defected to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decampees, who held various strategic positions in the PDP, were formally received into the APC by Alhaji Tijani Yahaya on behalf of former governor and the senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’aziz Yari, in Abuja.
Among those who defected were PDP Youth Leader, Sahad Dabo; former Treasurer, Nasiru Anka; erstwhile Organising Secretary, Janaidu Magaji Kiyawa, and another former Organising Secretary, Musa Halilu Faru.
Others included former Zonal Organising Secretary, Lawali Aliyu; Hajiya Rabi Bakura, and ex officio members, Hajiya Amina Duniya and Alhaji Tijani Yahaya.
Yahaya said Yari and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, would host an elaborate ceremony to welcome the defectors on their return to the country officially. He added that both new and old members would enjoy equal opportunities in the party.
