2027: APC accuses PDP of bitterness over Tinubu endorsements

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its reaction to the wave of endorsements for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

In a statement on Tuesday, Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo dismissed the PDP’s comments as a product of “bitterness”, saying the opposition party has been reduced to an “empty kiosk” with no moral standing to question the rising support for Tinubu.

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, had accused the APC of heating the polity through “procured endorsements” of Tinubu, less than two years into his administration, suggesting that the APC is in “panic mode,” focusing on endorsements rather than governance. Ologunagba argued the APC’s actions reflect a government that recognises its failures.

Responding, Oladejo called the PDP’s claims “comic relief” and accused the party of projecting its internal crisis onto the ruling APC.

“Panic is when a party that once boasted of being ‘Africa’s largest’ is now reduced to an empty kiosk, preparing for a convention as if preparing for World War 3 due to threats within. Panic is when your ‘leaders’, or is it former leaders, spend more time in Dubai lounges than in Nigeria.

“Panic is when your perennial or career presidential candidate tore and burnt the tattered umbrella. Panic is when your members defect at the mere whisper of internal disagreement, scampering like headless chickens,” Oladejo said.

According to the APC, the wave of endorsements reflects growing national confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms.

Oladejo argued that Nigerians are beginning to acknowledge proof of courage and leadership from the administration, despite inherited challenges.

“When a man is destined for the throne, even his enemies clap unwillingly,” he added.

The APC also accused the PDP of standing on the sidelines of governance while resorting to throwing stones.

The party insisted that 2027 is a settled matter, predicting that Tinubu will secure another term while the PDP continues to grapple with defections and leadership struggles.

“Blinded by bitterness, prefers to shout from the sidelines. As our people say, ‘He who carries no load thinks the marketplace is just for strolling’.

“For 16 years, PDP wasted Nigeria’s wealth and opportunities, and today, while Tinubu is bearing the heavy burden of reform, they stand idly by, throwing stones and pretending to matter.

“We are not surprised. A party that cannot even conduct a congress without turning it inmto a boxing match should not lecture Nigerians on panic. Their new hobby is watching APC from the sidelines like a football fan whose team didn’t even qualify for the tournament.

“For the avoidance of doubt, every endorsement of President Tinubu is another confirmation that 2027 is a settled matter. PDP can only look forward to yet another humiliating defeat – the type that makes a mockery of their relevance and confirms their total rejection by Nigerians,” Oladejo noted.
