• Race for guber ticket tears APC apart
• No crisis, we’re resolute in dislodging Adeleke, says APC

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, debunked speculation that he was planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

The governor maintained that he remains in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that he is neither joining the ADC nor any other political party for his re- election bid.

In a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke noted that what preoccupies the governor’s mind at the moment is how to deliver more gains of democracy to the people of Osun State.

In another development, leaders and members of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been divided and enmeshed in negative tantrums ahead of next year’s governorship election in the state.

The Guardian gathered that the fresh crisis in the party was over the struggle by some gubernatorial aspirants to clinch the party’s ticket for the poll.

Some of them include Bola Oyebamiji, Akin Ogunbiyi, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, Dotun Babayemi, Iyiola Omisore, Ajibola Basiru, Jide Omoworare, Mudashiru Hussein and Benedict Alabi.

Also, the attempt to remove the incumbent Chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, was said to have necessitated tension and kickbacks by stakeholders.

However, the crisis, it was gathered, came to the public glare recently after Omisore, a former National Secretary of the APC and former Deputy Governor of the state, declared his intention to govern the state.

The former governor, who disclosed that he was sceptical earlier about joining the race, said: “When the race started, I was very careful until former Governor Gboyega
Oyetola said he was no longer interested.”

Meanwhile, the party’s leadership has dismissed every claim of crisis in the Osun APC, saying it is only in the imagination of those insinuating it.

Director of Media and Information of the party, Kola Olabisi, in a telephone chat with The Guardian, yesterday, said: “I have never heard of any negative banters by our eminent and qualified governorship aspirants. We are one family and there is no crisis. It is the wish of some cynics. Osun APC is a close-knit family. No crisis. We are resolute in dislodging the government of the PDP come 2026.”
