Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo have written their names into Italian football history after helping AS Roma win the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile title in dominant fashion, Soccernet.ng reports.
This is the first time two Nigeria internationals in the same team will lift the Italian top-flight trophy.
The Super Falcons duo, both in their first full season with the club, played important roles as Roma sealed the Scudetto on Saturday, with a controlled 2-0 victory over Ternana at the Stadio Tre Fontane. Midfielder Manuela Giugliano scored both goals on the day.
Roma’s triumph was confirmed with two matches still left to play. The win took them to 49 points, six ahead of second-placed Inter Milan, who could no longer catch them due to Roma’s superior head-to-head record. Roma powered to the league title with a remarkable 15-game unbeaten run that ultimately broke blew Inter Milan out of contention.

Interestingly, this success crowns a dream debut campaign for Babajide and Oladipo in Italy and strengthens the growing Nigerian presence at the club.
Nigerian impact in a historic Roma title run
The journey began in July 2025 for Rinsola Babajide after her move from Spanish side UDCA Tenerife. She made an instant statement by scoring on her Serie A debut against Parma, immediately showing her attacking quality.
Though she featured mainly as a rotation option, Babajide still made nine league appearances and contributed two goals and an assist, a decent return considering her limited minutes.
Her role was often tactical. Used as a wide forward or impact substitute, she brought pace, direct running, and creativity, helping Roma unlock tight games. One of her standout contributions came with a key assist in a narrow win over AC Milan, while she also played a part in crucial moments against title rivals Inter Milan.
At the defensive end of the pitch, Shukurat Oladipo emerged as one of Roma’s most reliable defenders. The 21-year-old, who joined from FC Robo Queens in early 2025, quickly established herself as a first-team regular. She featured in 16 league matches, playing over 1,200 minutes, an outstanding achievement in her first full season in Europe.
Oladipo often showed her strength, positioning, and understanding of the game which helped Roma maintain one of the best defensive records in the league. Her consistency meant she missed very few matches and became a trusted figure in the backline.
Beyond the league, both Babajide and Oladipo also contributed to Roma’s successful push into the UEFA Women’s Champions League. They were involved in key qualification matches, including the playoff victory over Sporting Lisbon.
Roma’s latest title is their third in four seasons, sealing their status as the dominant force in Italian women’s football.
With the league title secured, attention now turns to the Coppa Italia final against Juventus on May 24 in Vicenza. That match offers Babajide, Oladipo and Roma the chance to complete a historic domestic double.
