Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke has called out the poor officiating on display in his side’s 1-1 draw against Basaksehir, with a Super Eagles star constantly on the receiving end, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Claret Blues were two points off league leaders Galatasaray a few weeks ago, but they’ve fallen off the cliff since then, dropping four points in their last two games.

Trabzonspor are now third, six points behind Galatasaray with four league games left to play. They also stand a chance of missing out on the Europa League spots as they’re two points behind Fenerbahce.

Trazonspor coach blames officiating for poor Onuachu outing

Onuachu played all 90 minutes at Papara Park on Sunday, but was able to muster just one attempt on target; the coach faulted Referee Alper Akarsu for allowing Basaksehir players to get away with multiple fouls on the Nigerian.

“There are two positions, I just watched. Can a penalty be given? It’s debatable. There have been interesting decisions.

“Our opponent did a good job, and my players fought well. We had imprisoned and crippled players,” Fatih Tekke said in quotes revealed by Yeni Mesaj.

“There were obvious fouls on Onuachu. In several of these positions, the opponent won the attack, meanwhile our players were getting fouled.

“I’m uncomfortable with these things. There’s a ball from the corner and Augusto’s position. There’s no standard in the officiating. Everyone complains about the referees.

“We could have played better, we could have performed better. It’s important for my players to show the strength to stay in this race. I’m grateful to them,” the 48-year-old concluded.

Despite the dip in form, Paul Onuachu is still the leading goalscorer in the Turkish Super Lig with 22 goals.
