Super Eagles duo Samuel Chukwueze and Akor Adams were both in action for AC Milan and Venezia respectively in their Serie A clash on Friday night, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chukwueze had inspired Milan to a 2-1 win over Torino in their opening game, while Adams endured a difficult outing as Venezia lost 2-0 at home to AC Milan.

AC Milan club record signing Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring in the second half before an own goal from Redouane Halhal doubled the lead to seal the victory for Ruben Amorim’s side, who moved top of the table with the win.

AC Milan vs Venezia: How the game unfolded

Milan went into the clash in search of a second successive win to start the Amorim era, while Venezia were looking for their first league victory of the season.

Milan dominated the first half and created several goalscoring opportunities, but they struggled to find the breakthrough, with Ramos particularly guilty of missing chances.

Chukwueze played Ramos through, but the Portuguese forward saw his effort saved by the Venezia goalkeeper. At the other end, Adams showed his pace to beat two Milan players before seeing his effort saved by Mike Maignan in the Milan goal.

The first half ended goalless, with both sides spurning opportunities to take the lead. Ramos, Chukwueze and Adams all had chances but failed to convert them.

Yunus Musah came close early in the second half when his effort cannoned back off the woodwork.

Milan finally broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when Ramos finished a first time attempt into the net to give the hosts the lead.

Just one minute before full time, Milan doubled their advantage. Ardon Jashari found space and saw his effort saved by Stanislav, but the ball hit Halhal on its way and nestled into the back of the net for an own goal.

Super Eagles player ratings: Chukwueze impresses, Adams struggles

Chukwueze made his second straight appearance in his new right wing-back role and impressed once again for Amorim’s side.

The Super Eagles forward created three chances, which was the joint-most in the game, with two of those opportunities being spurned by Ramos.

The 27-year-old also won six duels and made five defensive contributions to finish with a rating of 7.9, according to FotMob, which was the highest rating recorded by any player in the clash.

Adams, on the other hand, endured another difficult night in front of goal. The Super Eagles striker failed to add to his two goals and one assist from Venezia’s Coppa Italia win over Modena as he endured another goalless outing in Serie A.

The Nigerian striker recorded a game high six touches in the opposition box and had only one attempt on target, a weak effort that was comfortably saved by Maignan in the first half.

He finished the game with a rating of 6.4 according to FotMob. Adams will be hoping for better displays as the season progresses, especially as he looks to maintain his fitness and find his best form ahead of the Super Eagles’ upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

Chukwueze will be back in action for AC Milan next weekend when they travel to the Allianz Stadium to face Juventus as they look to continue their perfect start to the season.

Adams, meanwhile, will return to action against Udinese in the Coppa Italia Round of 32 on Wednesday before hoping to score his first Serie A goal when Venezia face Frosinone on Sunday.
