Super Eagles news: Chelle perfects tactics ahead of Guinea-Bissau touchdown

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are fresh off a 2-1 win over Madagascar in their opening game of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, but they still have one more adversary to conquer before their friendly encounter against Russia at the start of October, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles had to come back from a goal down against the Barea at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium to claim the victory on Friday.

However, Chelle and his boys remain second in Group L because Guinea-Bissau won their own game against Tanzania 2-0.

So, to claim the top spot in their group ahead of the next set of qualifiers, Nigeria must defeat Guinea-Bissau when both teams clash on September 29.

The game is scheduled for the 15,000-capacity Estádio 24 de Setembro, so the Djurtus will have massive home support.

Ahead of the game, coach Chelle hinted that there might be a change from the tactics they used against Madagascar, since their opponents are different and operate differently.

“No, we have to analyze the game against Madagascar, see what we did, and then look ahead to our second game in Guinea-Bissau,” Chelle said after the Madagascar match.

“They are a different team; they have their strengths and weaknesses. I have to think about what we will do in Guinea-Bissau. I can’t reveal what system we will use. We have to prepare our minds for the game.”

When Will The Super Eagles Arrive in Guinea-Bissau?

Soccernet.ng understands that the Super Eagles will arrive in Guinea-Bissau on Sunday morning.

There were earlier reports that the team would move to Bissau today, but things have not panned out as reported. So, a Sunday travel appears to be more likely at the moment.

It will likely be a chartered flight and could last up to 4 hours. So by tomorrow, the team should have landed in Bissau to begin preparations. They will then have two training sessions there before matchday on September 29.

The Super Eagles have to be careful, as this Guinea-Bissau team they will face appears to be a golden generation. They have good players like Mama Balde, Beto, Dju Franculino, and Renato Nhaga.
