The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, says over 10 million vulnerable Nigerians who benefited from the N75,000 conditional cash transfer programme do not have access to mobile phones and are not on social media.
The APC chairman disclosed this on Saturday while fielding questions from journalists shortly after a three-day retreat of the party’s National Executive Council in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Yilwatda said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had executed projects, including road infrastructure and student loans, and engaged in numerous humanitarian activities, including the conditional cash transfer to vulnerable people from the gains of the fuel subsidy.
He said, “We have given 75,000 naira to over 10 million Nigerians across the country using the conditional cash transfer under the ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction.
“Mind you, these people who are poor and vulnerable don’t have telephone to make call, they are not on social media. They don’t have television. They can not come and challenge and discuss as we are doing here, but they are out there”.
“We are constructing roads and paying people that are working on the road site and construction is going across the country” he said.
Speaking on the retreat, he said the NEC had made resolutions on key national issues.
“First, we extend our deepest condolences to the people of Niger state, the government and the good people of the state over the lost of the 37 miners in the state. Our prayers and heart are with the people of Niger state over the lost” he said.
“At the retreat, the party also, have a deep dive into the party affairs at the national, state, local government, ward and down to polin units. After we review the performance of the party, we affirm that the party is strong and prepared for the 2027 general election” he added.
According to him, the NEC also passed a vote of confidence in the presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, as well as all other APC candidates elected during the primary election for the 2027 general election.
“Also, we resolved to continue reconcilation were we need to make reconciliation. We encouraged the state chapters to constitute reconciliation committee where they have not done it to ensure that we consolidate the party towards winning and to sustain the gains that we had in the previous elections” he noted.
He added that the National Executive Council also resolved to drive the campaign from the front in all the engagements of the party by ensuring that they spread the message of the work that President Bola Tinubu is doing accros the country.
The NEC, however, commended Nigerians while asking for more support to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu return for the second time in the 2027 general elections.
