Hollywood actor, Tobey Maguire, best known for playing Spider-Man, officiated his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer’s wedding to Nigerian billionaire’s son, Geoffrey Ogunlesi.
According to entertainment outlet E! News on Monday, Maguire led Meyer and Ogunlesi through their wedding vows at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii on Saturday, October 10.
The ceremony came weeks after Maguire and Meyer’s divorce was finalised, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported that court documents showed their marriage was officially terminated on October 1.
Maguire and Meyer announced their separation in 2016 after marrying in 2007, the newspaper reported.
According to E! News, the former couple remained close over the years, with Maguire eventually being chosen to officiate her marriage to Ogunlesi.
How Maguire and Meyer remained close
E! News reported that Maguire and Meyer had remained close since their separation, with the jewellery designer previously describing her former husband as her best friend.
Speaking on the Inside Edit podcast in December 2025, Meyer acknowledged that maintaining their relationship after the split had not always been easy, particularly while raising their children.
“Our daughter was 10 or something. Those are some intense times that you need to stay connected. And then we had a son who was 7. You’re raising kids at an intense time,” she said.
Meyer said the former couple had faced difficulties as they navigated co-parenting.
“It was not easy every day, and I’m sure he would say the same thing, 100 per cent. We definitely had to overcome some big hurdles,” she said.
She also disclosed that they attended therapy together, adding that their efforts helped them maintain their relationship.
“I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him. Anything in the world,” Meyer said, according to E! News.
In an interview with People in May, Meyer also spoke about how the former couple maintained a close relationship while raising their children.
“We travel all together. We have every holiday together. We have every birthday all together,” she said.
She also praised Maguire as a father and former husband, saying her new husband and the actor got along well.
“He is an incredible father. He is an incredible ex-husband. And Geoff loves him, and he loves Geoff. And so everything just works,” Meyer said, according to People.
A wedding involving a Nigerian billionaire’s son
Meyer married Ogunlesi, the son of Nigerian billionaire lawyer and investment banker Adebayo Ogunlesi, at the Hawaiian resort, E! News reported.
According to the outlet, the ceremony was attended by several celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Courteney Cox, Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos.
Maguire and Meyer share two children, Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17, E! News reported.
The wedding also came about five months after Meyer and Ogunlesi welcomed a daughter together, according to the entertainment outlet.
Meyer had announced the arrival of the baby in a Father’s Day post, writing, “We love you the most @geoffo212. Happy Father’s Day. A perfect month with our perfect baby girl.”
E! News reported that photos of the ceremony were obtained by celebrity news outlet TMZ.
