The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Abubakar Sadiq, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Katsina.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2026, after the police received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man, a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying motionless in front of his residence.
According to the police, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was evacuated to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
However, the police said the victim was pronounced dead by the attending medical doctor upon arrival at the hospital.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada Tambai (27). During interrogation, the suspect confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, resulting in his fatal injuries.”
The command said the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Fage, directed that the matter be subjected to a “discreet and thorough investigation.”
The police said the suspect would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
The command also extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, assuring the public that it remained committed to ensuring that justice was served.
