The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Remi Oseni, has intensified grassroots mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State with new education and welfare initiatives aimed at rallying public support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the launch of the Ido Local Government chapter of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) on Saturday in Apata, Ibadan, Oseni announced a scholarship scheme for indigent students and a planned Food Bank programme for households across his constituency.

He pledged full university sponsorship for any student who secures five distinctions in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations and gains admission into a higher institution.
“Our youths are not thugs; they are leaders of tomorrow. If you are brilliant, we will support you. If you score distinctions and gain admission, we will pay your school fees from entry to graduation, no matter your course,” Oseni said.

On the Food Bank, he assured residents that no household in Ido and Ibarapa East would be excluded once the initiative takes off. “Nobody should go hungry,” he added.

Oseni stressed that ROCOF was not a parallel political structure but a grassroots platform working within the APC to advance justice, equity, accountability, and good governance. He said the movement had already been inaugurated across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State to mobilise party members and strengthen community ties.
“The people trust us and are looking to us for leadership. Our traditional rulers are with us. Our market men and women, who are our backbone, are with us. We must align with the Federal Government for greater progress. Our roads, hospitals, industries, and farmers need federal support, and only alignment can guarantee this,” he said.

The lawmaker’s intervention comes as the APC struggles to regain footing in Oyo following back-to-back defeats to Governor Seyi Makinde’s Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 and 2023. Party leaders have been urged to put aside internal divisions to improve their prospects in the next governorship election.
