The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, has passed out 80 newly trained private guards drawn from 10 licensed Private Guard Companies operating in the state, following a two-week intensive training programme.
This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the Gombe NSCDC Command, CSC Buhari Saad.
The training, held at the Federal Secretariat in Gombe, was organised in line with the Corps’ statutory mandate under the NSCDC Act, 2003 which empowers it to license, train, monitor, and supervise Private Guard Companies nationwide.
The participating companies are A. Koli Security Limited, Hardware Security Services, Pama Global Security Limited, Al-Ali Security Services, Birbo International Security Limited, Kings Guard Security Limited, Spitech Security Limited, Profile Security Limited, Jafi Security Services, and Spider Web Security Limited.
Speaking at the passing-out parade, the State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, said the exercise went beyond a ceremonial event.
“This passing-out is not just a ceremony, but a clear statement of professionalism, partnership, and our unwavering commitment to raising the standards of Private Guard Companies as critical stakeholders in the national safety and security architecture,” he said.
Idris commended the graduands for their discipline, resilience, and commitment throughout the training, which covered physical drills, unarmed combat, ethics and code of conduct, intelligence gathering, first aid, fire safety and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
He urged them to uphold the core values of the profession as they return to their duty posts.
“As you return to your respective companies, be worthy ambassadors of safety. Your role in the protection of lives, property, critical infrastructure, and public institutions cannot be overstated. You must serve with discipline, integrity, and pride at all times,” he charged.
The commandant reiterated the Corps’ commitment to sanitising and professionalising the private security sector in Gombe State through regular training, compliance monitoring, and collaboration with licensed operators, and warned against illegal security operations, assuring that the command would continue to enforce standards across the industry.
The event was attended by department heads, unit heads, representatives of the participating private guard companies and other guests.
The NSCDC was established under the NSCDC Act of 2003 as a paramilitary agency under the Federal Ministry of Interior, with a mandate to protect critical national infrastructure, assist in maintaining public safety and regulate the private security industry in Nigeria.
One of its core statutory functions is the licensing, training, monitoring, and supervision of Private Guard Companies operating across the country.
