Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has praised Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis following his debut performance for Brondby on Sunday.

Two weeks ago, Dennis sealed a half-season transfer to Danish Superligaen club Brondby after being without a club since last July.

However, since he had not played top-level football in months, he had a train consistently to reach full fitness.

On Sunday, he finally made his competitive debut for the club, seeing 28 minutes of action in Brondby’s goalless draw against Randers at the Brondby Stadion.

Dennis was introduced into the game to give his side some extra spark in the final third, but he was unable to influence the scoreline.

Nonetheless, he looked sharp and was decent on the ball, albeit with a few loose touches.

After the game, coach Cooper admitted that the Super Eagles star put in a solid performance.

What Coach Steve Cooper Said About Emmanuel Dennis’ Debut

Steve Cooper was Emmanuel Dennis’ first coach at Nottingham Forest, so he has a good idea of what the Super Eagles striker is capable of.

Dennis was not the only new player on the pitch, however. Cooper also gave opportunities to others, including Ousmane Sow and Mayckel Lahdo.

Following the final whistle, coach Cooper spoke about Dennis and the other new lads on the pitch, had some encouraging words for them.

“(Emmanuel) Dennis also had some good moments. Ousmane (Sow) got better as the game went on. And Mayckel. It was his first minutes in ages, and although it was probably not ideal to bring him on, it’s good that he got some minutes. He’s a quality player who can help us,” Cooper said, per Tipsbladet.

“But after the substitutions we got better, and that’s what we want: A team that can pressure each other and make each other better.”

Dennis will have to keep working hard in the comings weeks as he looks to return to his best. For a player with his quality, he can definitely shine in Denmark.
