The Jigawa State Government has warned food vendors against diverting meals under the Ramadan feeding scheme, stating that those found guilty will face sanctions.
This was contained in a statement released by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, on Wednesday in Dutse.
He said the government had received reports indicating insufficient distribution of the approved quantity and quality of meals in 17 centres across the state.
“As the commissioner overseeing the free feeding project, I warn the vendors concerned to adhere to the set arrangements or risk sanctions.
“On behalf of the government, I further warn the vendors to be God-fearing and bear in mind that we have secret monitors overseeing the project,” he said.
He urged stakeholders to fulfil their obligations to ensure the effective implementation of the project.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Jigawa government has disbursed N4.8 billion to designated feeding centres to fast-track the implementation of the 2025 Ramadan feeding scheme.
