A video showing an Indian national assaulting two Nigerian truck drivers along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has sparked outrage on social media.
The video, shared on X on Monday by a user identified as #Lagosreporters_, showed the man flogging one of the drivers with a stick while another was held down by his associates.
According to reports accompanying the video, the Indian owns a business located along the expressway.
The post was captioned, “Truck Drivers Mr. Riliwan Olajide and Taiwo Yinusa Beaten by Indian Nationals, Owners of Karma Agric Feed & Foods Ltd Located at Km 12, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in Conjunction with Hoodlums.”
In the video, some members of the Indian man’s staff were seen demanding the keys to the trucks from the drivers.
The drivers, however, resisted, insisting that the trucks belonged to them and that they would not surrender the keys.
The confrontation escalated as the staff allegedly attempted to forcefully take the keys from the drivers.
During the struggle, the Indian national was seen striking the drivers with a stick, while one of them was kicked as he lay on the ground, restrained by the man’s associates.
Some of the staff members were also heard shouting, “You dey fight our boss.”
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including why the keys of the truck were demanded, remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
There was no immediate information on whether the incident had been reported to the police or whether the parties involved had responded to the allegations.
