Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune has confirmed the possibility of Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface making his long-awaited return for their game against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface has been sidelined with a knee injury since last December. He underwent surgery to correct the issue, and it was initially believed he would miss the remainder of the campaign.
However, the Super Eagles star healed quickly and has been back in training since March. Despite his progress, the exact date of his return has remained uncertain.

Usually, when players recover from long-term injuries, it takes time to return to competitive action. They must undergo personalized training routines before reintegrating with their teammates to ensure they attain full match fitness.
Werder Bremen return to Bundesliga action on Sunday. Ahead of the game, coach Thioune confirmed that Boniface is reaching the final stages of his recovery. Although he was recently hampered by the flu, he is now very close to returning to the pitch.

Ahead of the game against Stuttgart at the MHP Arena, Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune confirmed that Victor Boniface will return to action soon, potentially as early as this weekend.
Thioune noted that he has been impressed with the 25-year-old’s progress so far, though a late fitness test will be required to confirm if he can make the trip to Stuttgart. Nevertheless, even if he makes the squad, Boniface will not start the match.
”I had a good impression of him on the training pitch on Thursday—at least in the sense that he’s overcome the flu,” Thioune said regarding Boniface.
”I don’t want to rule it out, but of course, I’m looking at the training sessions and what the team needs, but also what Victor needs. I’ve already indicated that he could play a role again, but definitely not as a starter; rather, in a game situation where he might get some minutes.”

Werder Bremen currently sit 15th in the Bundesliga table, four points above the relegation playoff spot. With just around a month left in the campaign, the team needs to keep winning, and Boniface could play a key role in keeping them afloat.
