Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has emphasised the need for the quick delivery of the Ibom Deep Sea Port project by requesting clear timelines, defined milestones, and actionable next steps from the project partners to move the project from the planning stage to the execution stage.
The governor made the request when he led a high-level technical engagement and working session with the project partners, the Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group, in Paris, France, on Friday.
A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Ummanah, on Saturday said the state government and the partners have reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the project initiative aimed at positioning the state as a leading maritime, trade, and logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
According to the statement, the session reviewed the recently submitted Technical Feasibility Report prepared by Worley Parsons and examined the critical pathways for investment, project implementation, and long-term sustainability.
“During the engagement, Governor Eno emphasised the need to accelerate project delivery and requested clear timelines, defined milestones, and actionable next steps to move the project from planning to execution.
“The State Government and prospective partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the Deep Sea Port initiative, a landmark Blue Economy project with the potential to position the State as a leading maritime, trade, and logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea,” the statement said.
The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Ibom Deep Sea Port Project and former Director-General of NIMASA, Mrs. Mfon Usoro, Esq.; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpeyong; the Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr.
