Christantus Uche joined Crystal Palace from Getafe on the final day of the transfer window…
Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche could leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season due to his lack of playing time at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.
Uche was one of the success stories of La Liga last season. He joined Getafe from third-tier Spanish club Ceuta last year and became an instant hit under the tutelage of José Bordalás.
The Super Eagles star registered four goals and seven assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
He was the talisman for Los Azulones, as he performed consistently well despite being deployed across different positions on the pitch.
Due to his brilliant form at Getafe, Uche was linked to multiple clubs in the summer. At one point, it seemed likely he would join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, that deal did not materialize. Getafe were eventually compelled to sell due to their dire financial situation.
The Super Eagles star ultimately joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation-to-buy clause.
At the time, it seemed Uche would quickly become a regular at Crystal Palace, especially since Eberechi Eze, who occupied the attacking midfield position, had joined Arsenal.
But unfortunately for Uche, it has not panned out that way. The 22-year-old midfielder has accumulated only 72 minutes of action for the Eagles across all competitions this season.
Despite the necessity for player rotation, coach Oliver Glasner has not even trusted him enough to feature him in the Conference League.
Christantus Uche at a Crossroads in Crystal Palace
Christantus Uche’s loan transfer to Crystal Palace includes a conditional obligation-to-buy clause, which means Crystal Palace would be required to make the transfer permanent if he starts up to 10 games for the club.
At the current rate, however, Uche won’t even achieve half of that benchmark unless something drastic changes.
In a new development, per Sky Sports, Crystal Palace is expected to re-evaluate the Super Eagles star’s situation.
Still, it is unlikely that his loan will be cut short unless they can strike a favorable financial bargain with Getafe.

Uche will be hoping that his situation improves soon, as his lack of minutes has already cost him his place in the Super Eagles squad. With his talent, he surely deserves more playing time to improve and fulfill his potential.
