A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Hon. Abdulaziz Maituraka, has criticised opposition party leaders for politicizing security issues in the state.

Speaking over the weekend at a meeting with APC supporters, Maituraka said it was wrong for the opposition to unduly blame the state government for a challenge that predates the incumbent administration.

The APC chieftain, who serves as Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, said the opposition often ignores the fact that security is primarily a federal responsibility, with state governments playing only supportive roles.

He added that the security situation in Katsina had improved significantly compared to previous years, crediting the state government for contributing to the progress made.

“The issue of insecurity has existed for years, even before the current administration cam“Some of those now criticizing this government on security matters were once in government themselves and benefited from being members of the ruling APC in the state. My advice to such people is to stop politicizing insecurity. The state government is working closely with relevant stakeholders to address the situation,” he added.

Maituraka, who was recently appointed Senior Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Radda on Public Mobilisation, assured that the government would not relent until the security challenge is completely addressed.

He also expressed optimism that, despite current socio-economic difficulties, both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dikko Radda would be re-elected in the next general elections.

Maituraka noted that it is normal for people to experience tough times before relief comes, adding that such relief would emerge from the people-oriented policies being implemented by both Tinubu and Radda.

He urged APC members across the state to obtain their voter cards from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and to promote the ideals of the party in their communities ahead of the next elections.
