Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Philip Agbese, has dismissed recent criticisms of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration by opposition politicians, particularly those from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as disconnected from the country’s current realities.

Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly on Thursday during the House’s Open Week event, Agbese asserted that many of the criticisms against President Tinubu’s policies are politically motivated rather than rooted in fact.

“Even the fiercest critics of President Tinubu can no longer deny the direction this government is headed,” Agbese stated. “His reforms are bold, the outcomes are tangible, and the momentum is strong. The foundation is being laid. These changes take time, but the results are beginning to show. If we stay the course, Nigeria will be better off for it.”

Agbese urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as the administration works to consolidate the gains of its economic and governance reforms.

He particularly lauded the role of the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, noting that the ministry has redefined Nigeria’s fiscal architecture through strategic planning and improved accountability.

“Senator Bagudu has brought competence, clarity, and accountability into economic governance,” Agbese said. “His achievements in the last two years are too glaring to be ignored, even by critics. The budgeting process has never been this efficient and responsive to national priorities.”

He also highlighted the introduction of the Eyemark digital platform, developed under Bagudu’s leadership, which allows citizens to monitor federal projects in their local areas and provide real-time feedback. Agbese described the initiative as “a game-changer in public project monitoring and citizen engagement.”

According to him, Bagudu’s revision of the National Development Plan (2021–2025) to reflect Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda underscores the administration’s focus on aligning public spending with national development priorities.

Agbese further commended Bagudu’s stewardship of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), which he said has begun delivering measurable results across the country.

He concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to reforms that deliver long-term impact and challenged the opposition to engage based on facts rather than political posturing.
