Zamfara State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle with 4 AK-47 rifles, 228 rounds of live ammunition, and 4 magazines while on routine patrol in the state.
This was stated in a release issued by the State Police spokesman, DSP Yazid Abubakar, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.
The statement revealed that on 15th September 2025, at about 1230hrs, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Zamfara State Police Command, led by ASP Bilyamin Koko, while on patrol along Gummi–Sokoto road, intercepted a Toyota Corolla vehicle conveying passengers from Sokoto to Gummi.
“Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle at Gambanda Godabe village in Gummi LGA, the team recovered some items concealed inside a bag of oranges belonging to one Nasuru Dawan Jiya,” he added.
“The items include four (4) AK-47 rifles, two hundred (200) rounds of live PKT ammunition, twenty-eight (28) rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, and four empty AK-47 magazines.”
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect, Nasuru Dawan Jiya, confessed to transporting the arms and ammunition to bandits operating in Gurusu village.”
“The case is currently under in-depth investigation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and dismantle the criminal network.”
