Super Eagles invitee Zadok Yohanna has been given the assurance of security at Brighton and Hove Albion by Sweden’s World Cup starlet Yasin Ayari, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 18-year-old winger, just under a year after leaving Ikon Allah Football Academy for Europe, completed a switch from Swedish side AIK worth an initial €28m, with Brighton able to pay a potential €2m in add-ons, making him the costliest player ever sold by a club in the Swedish Allsvenskan. [Previous record was Lucas Bergvall – Djurgårdens IF to Tottenham Hotspur, 2024 for €20m]
The deal put Yohanna second on Nigeria’s most expensive U-20 transfers, in a list that contains household names like Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen and Mikel Obi.

Ayari, meanwhile, was phenomenal for Sweden in their 2026 FIFA World Cup opening fixture against Tunisia as he found the back of the net twice against the Carthage Eagles.
Despite the performance of the 22-year-old midfielder, Liverpool striker, Alexander Isak was given the man-of-the match award as he contributed to three goals in their 5-1 win over Tunisia..
Ayari makes huge promise to Zadok Yohanna
With Yohanna set to join up with Brighton’s pre-season training in the coming weeks, Ayari is looking forward to showing the Nigerian youngster the ropes under Fabian Hurzeler.
“If you look at how football has developed, a lot of players are now bought on potential. He [Yohanna] has grown up a lot in a short time so I understand that there’s a lot of interest in him,” the Sweden midfielder said in quotes revealed by Fotbollskanalen.
“It’s going to be fun. I haven’t seen much of him in the Allsvenskan, but it will be fun to start up and see how it goes for him.
“I’ll take care of him, but a lot of people will take care of him. It’s a familial club, so he’s going to be fine,” the former Coventry City midfielder concluded.
Zadok Yohanna was invited to Nigeria’s 2026 Unity Cup camp, but AIK declined the invite, largely because the player was injured at the time.
