Stanley Chikaodili Okeke, popularly known as Ugbo, a former chieftain of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has officially defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expressing confidence that Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, will be re-elected in the November 8, 2025, governorship election on the basis of good governance, equality and fairness.

The ex-YPP candidate for Idemili Federal Constituency in the 2023 National Assembly elections announced his defection during the APGA gubernatorial campaign rally held in the week at Nkpor, Idemili North Local Council of the state.

The rally was attended by Soludo, members of the APGA State Executive Council and National Working Committee.Okeke maintained that his support for the incumbent governor was borne out of his passion for good governance and the need to maintain the status quo in Anambra after ex-governors Peter Obi and Willy Obiano completed their eight years in office.

He noted that his defection resonates with the “magnetic and transformative leadership qualities of Soludo, adding that the only suitable candidate qualified to be elected governor by Ndi Anambra in the forthcoming election is the incumbent.

“Governor Soludo is a man you cannot afford not to like. As a leader, he is decisive and focused. When he believes in something, he stands by it. I believe this is how every true leader should behave – one whose actions are not determined by the crowd but by conviction,” Okeke stated.

He also stated that the governor’s leadership has put Anambra on a new course for development and praised the administration for its accomplishments in infrastructure, security and strategic governance.

“Under Soludo’s leadership, Ndigbo are beginning to re-evaluate their political strategies at the national level. The governor has also decisively reduced insecurity in Anambra, making it possible for people to return safely to their communities. With the massive infrastructural transformation ongoing, Anambra is fast becoming the destination point Soludo envisioned in 2021 and I can’t help but support him to continue his good work,” he added.
