A youth development organisation, the National Association of Youth Assembly, Lagos State chapter, has urged the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, to address the issue of drug abuse among youths and solve the problem of out-of-school children.
The speaker of the Lagos Chapter of the non-governmental organisation, Adeola Aderibigbe, during its plenary session held at Oshodi Isolo Local Government Secretariat I, commended President Bola Tinubu for separating the Ministry of Sports from that of Youth Development and appointing a youth minister, Ibrahim.
Aderibigbe, who represents the Eti-Osa constituency in the youth assembly, said, “The National Youths Assembly of Nigeria commends President Bola Tinubu for separating the Ministry of Sports, which has always taken the shine off the Youth Affairs development.
“We want to task the new minister, Dr. Ibrahim, to prioritise the challenges of the youth and face them headlong, solving them one after the other strategically.
“The issue of out-of-school children is alarming, drug abuse among youths is also a social malaise, among many other issues.
“Also, we want Dr. Ibrahim to bring and unite all the youth organisations in the country with the aim of listening to them and developing a strategic way of communicating with them to meet her objectives.
NYAN which was established 10 years ago, is ready to work with her and succeed with the honourable youthful minister.”
