The lawmaker representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Amobi Ogah, has dismissed his suspension by the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party as inconsequential.

While declaring his loyalty to Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, the lawmaker, who was among six prominent members suspended by the Abure-led faction of the party, described the action as a joke taken too far.

The Abure-led faction of the party had announced the suspension of Ogah alongside Governor Alex Otti, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, and Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, following recommendations from a disciplinary committee.

The lawmaker, however, in a statement on Wednesday, insisted that his suspension is a failed attempt to derail the progressive movement gaining ground in Abia and beyond.

Ogah dismissed the move as politically motivated, stressing that his loyalty lies with the people who elected him and with leaders genuinely committed to change.

“The so-called suspension means absolutely nothing to me. I am a mandate of the people, not of a factional leadership. My commitment to Governor Alex Otti and his transformational agenda remains unshakable,” he said.

He accused unnamed political actors of sponsoring distractions because they feel threatened by what he said was the new face of leadership in Abia State.

According to the lawmaker, Otti is the best thing that has happened to Abia in decades, saying that “I am with him full time. Nobody can bully us out of this progressive movement. No amount of intimidation can stop the will of the people.”

Ogah urged his constituents to remain calm while he focuses on delivering quality representation and development to the people of Isuikwuato and Umunneochi.
