The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has assured Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil the promises it made to the electorate as it seeks the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Yari gave the assurance on Sunday shortly after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from an overseas trip.

He was received at the airport by party supporters, associates and other well-wishers, who gathered to welcome him following his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Speaking with journalists, Yari said the APC remained committed to delivering on the commitments it made to Nigerians during the 2023 presidential campaign, insisting that the party would continue to stand by its promises.

“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep. Today we have seen him [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] as President, and by God’s grace he shall be the president come 2027,” Yari said.

Yari who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, said the reception by supporters was an indication of their confidence in Tinubu and the ruling party.

Addressing the crowd at the airport, Yari expressed appreciation for their presence and urged them to continue supporting the president and the APC.

“The crowd is here to pray for me and for the success of Mr President. Our party is synonymous with keeping our word. We pray that Almighty Allah will give him (the president) the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfil all our campaign promises,” he said.

Yari further expressed confidence that the APC would remain in power beyond Tinubu’s second term, urging party members to work towards consolidating the party’s position across the country.

“We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term,” he added.

His comments came as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the party expected to mount a nationwide campaign to defend its record in government and secure Tinubu’s re-election.

The appointment of Yari as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was formally announced on Saturday as part of the party’s preparations for the election.

His selection brings considerable political experience to the campaign structure. Yari served as governor of Zamfara State and later emerged as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, giving him experience in both state-level administration and intergovernmental political coordination.

With the campaign council now taking shape, Yari’s immediate task will be to coordinate the party’s presidential campaign, mobilise its structures across the country and present the administration’s policies and achievements to the electorate.
