Super Eagles have been drawn alongside South Africa, Zimbabwe and Benin in Group C of the preliminary round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Zimbabwe Football Association, ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games, have released a provisional 28-man squad list, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn alongside South Africa in Group C of the qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, slated to be hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico from 11th June, 2026 to 19th July, 2026.
Alongside South Africa, Nigeria is joined by Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Lesotho and Gernot Rohr’s current side, Benin Republic. The three-time African Champions missed out on the last edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Coach of The Warriors of Zimbabwe, ahead of the clash with Peseiro’s men, has expressed his confidence in the team he put out, as released by their associations’ official page.
“I’m happy with the team and I’m happy with my decision to assemble this talented group of players that will represent Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers. I analyzed each one of them, they are exceptional players and are valuable assets to the team,” 71-year-old Baltemar Brito said.

Zimbabwe will play against the wasps of Rwanda on 15th November 2023, before taking on the Super Eagles of Nigeria four days later.
For Peseiro’s men, top players like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Wilfred Ndidi are doubtful for the upcoming games as they’re currently out with injuries.
