President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria must take its place at the forefront of Africa’s development, driven by technology, food sovereignty, and bold reforms aimed at reshaping the nation’s future.
Tinubu said this while speaking during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian diaspora in Brazil on Tuesday.
He said Nigeria has everything it needs to lead the continent from its youthful population to abundant natural resources but must find the “courage to change our destiny.”
“We must bring Nigeria to the forefront of Africa’s progress, driven by technology, food sovereignty, and the courage to change our destiny,” Tinubu declared.
“We have the brains, the energy, and the youth. We have everything we need. Now, we must act.”
The President described his visit to Brazil as a strategic move to deepen bilateral ties and draw inspiration from the impressive development trajectory of the South American country.

He noted that Nigeria and Brazil once shared similar economic starting points, but that Brazil’s advancements offer a model Nigeria can adapt, saying “once upon a time, Nigeria and Brazil stood on the same level. Look at Brazil today, its technology, its food systems. We must ask ourselves: what do they have that we don’t?”
Tinubu also urged the Nigerian diaspora community to see themselves as key stakeholders in building a new Nigeria rooted in innovation, culture, and shared responsibility.
“You are the pride of our nation. Your diversity, your commitment — it reflects the Nigeria we are working to build. I salute you all,” he said.
