Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Chuka Iwobi has issued a bold statement following his side’s 1-0 win over Sunderland, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old made his 90th appearance for Nigeria in their 4-1 win over Gabon during the November International break.

However, the former Arsenal man was underwhelming in his 91st cap as Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was confirmed.

Iwobi, alongside Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze, make up the Fulham-Super Eagles trio, and all three played against Regis Le Bris’ side this evening.

Chukwueze came off the bench in the 64th minute and provided the assist for the game’s winning goal, well put away by Raul Jimenez.

The AC Milan loanee then drew praise from Fulham boss Marco Silva and teammate Raul Jimenez.

Iwobi delighted with Fulham victory

The Cottagers have won four league games this season, all of which have come at home. Away from Craven Cottage, Fulham have claimed just one point.

Still, Iwobi believes it’s of utmost importance to keep their home ground as a sacred place for their opponents.

“Our home form has been really good,” the former Arsenal man said in quotes revealed by Fulham correspondent Jack Kelly.

“They’re a tough side and they’ve been doing really well, but we have the belief that we can perform against anyone

“We created so many chances today. It was almost one of those where you wonder if it will ever go on.

“Credit to the lads, we kept on believing and thank god one of them went in.

“We don’t fear anyone in the league. We give our respect to Sunderland. But now it’s all about consistency for us to go and get the results we need.

“In the week, we were working on different ways to break down Sunderland. It was working, but we couldn’t put the ball in the net.

“As long as we can keep clean sheets, then we’ll always create chances to score,” the Super Eagles star concluded.
