Galatasaray fans unveiled a touching tifo banner honouring his late mother. The banner, prominently displayed at Rams Park Stadium, featured images of Osimhen alongside his mother, who passed away when he was very young, with the message: “We are a family and family is everything.”
The 27-year-old wiped away tears as chants erupted around him. Pooja Media’s footage captured Osimhen standing with teammates and young mascots as the tribute appeared in the stands.

Galatasaray claimed a 1–0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of the Round of 16. Mario Lemina scored the decisive goal in the 7th minute after a clever header flick by Osimhen during a corner.

The home side maintained their advantage throughout the match, with Liverpool struggling to convert possession into meaningful chances.

While the Super Eagles attacker did not score, he was instrumental in Galatasaray’s attacking play. His movement and aerial presence created space for teammates, including the assist that led to Lemina’s early goal.

The former LOSC Lille forward consistently pressed Liverpool’s defenders, forcing mistakes and maintaining offensive pressure throughout the game.
The emotional pre-match tribute appeared to fuel his performance, as he combined determination with skill to support Galatasaray in a landmark European fixture.
