Canada and Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has tied the knot with longtime partner Sheyenne in a lavish ceremony, Soccernet.ng reports.

The event was hosted at the historic Château de Saint-Martin-du-Tertre near Paris, with Nigerian Afrobeats legend Mr P providing one of the biggest highlights of the celebrations

The wedding, held on July 25, per multiple reports, was initially kept away from the public eye before photos and videos from the multi-day celebration surfaced online.

The ceremony blended luxury with African culture, reflecting Davies’ Liberian roots through traditional-inspired attire worn by both the groom and his bride.

The biggest entertainment moment of the evening came when Nigerian music icon Mr P, one half of the legendary P-Square duo, took to the stage.

Videos shared across social media showed the Afrobeats star performing several hit songs as Davies, Sheyenne and guests danced throughout the reception.

Musiala was also spotted singing along during the performance, particularly to P-Square’s ‘E no easy’ jam, further highlighting the lively atmosphere and showing his relations to Nigerian music, a clear influence of his British-Nigerian father. Watch the video here.

Mr P later took to his official X account to congratulate the newlyweds, writing:

“Paris wedding What a beautiful celebration of love. Congratulations to my brother Alphonso Davies and his gorgeous wife! Wishing you both a lifetime of unconditional love, laughter, peace, and God’s endless blessings. May your union grow stronger with each passing day.”

The wedding also showcased Davies’ African heritage. Rather than opting for a conventional tuxedo, the Bayern defender wore a richly embroidered burgundy ceremonial outfit with gold detailing, matching glasses and a ceremonial cane, while Sheyenne complemented him in an elegant burgundy dress with a traditional headpiece and gold accessories.

Born in the Buduburam refugee camp in Ghana to Liberian parents before emigrating to Canada, Davies has often embraced his African roots, and his wedding attire reflected that connection.

The couple have been together since 2022, with Davies proposing during a holiday in Dubai before announcing their engagement on New Year’s Day in 2025.
