Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been urged to consider a move away from Turkish champions Galatasaray, despite his impressive performances since joining the club.

Osimhen initially joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in 2024 before the Turkish giants splashed a club-record €75 million to sign him permanently in 2025.

The Nigerian striker has repaid their faith in him, scoring 65 goals in 78 appearances across all competitions. He has also enjoyed a strong start to the current season, finding the net six times in four appearances.

The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Galatasaray during the summer transfer window, with several top European clubs reportedly interested in signing him.

However, the Turkish champions maintained their stance and refused to let him leave, while Osimhen also made it clear that he was happy to stay and continue his career in Istanbul.

Ex-Napoli star tips Victor Osimhen for Galatasaray exit

Osimhen’s former Napoli teammate, Diego Demme, has shared his thoughts on the striker’s future and explained why he would like to see him move to a bigger European club. The pair played together at Napoli for four seasons and were part of the team that won the Serie A title in the 2022/23 campaign, ending the club’s 33-year wait for the Scudetto.

They were also involved in a viral incident in 2023 when Victor Osimhen appeared to snub Demme’s handshake after becoming upset over a TikTok video that mocked him for missing a penalty in a Serie A match.

Speaking during an interview with Ratings, Demme believes a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, would give the Super Eagles star more visibility and place him among the best in the world.

“I think Osimhen is very happy in Galatasaray because he likes the fans and they like him, but I still want to see him play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe in a league like La Liga or the Premier League”, the German told r.org.

“ I think he has to do it, because he’s a really good striker, and he’d have more visibility than he currently has in Turkey.”

Will Osimhen leave Galatasaray soon?

Victor Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in world football over the last few years, and his performances for Galatasaray have strengthened his reputation.

The 27-year-old has continued to deliver in front of goal and even made an impressive start to the season before an injury disrupted his progress.

Several top European clubs were linked with the Nigerian international during the summer. Arsenal reopened talks over a possible deal, while Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal were also strongly linked during the window.

Osimhen, who is valued at €65 million by Transfermarkt, still has several years of top-level football ahead of him at 27. A move to the Premier League or La Liga could offer him a new challenge and an opportunity to showcase his ability on a bigger stage.

For now, he remains a Galatasaray player and the Super Eagles striker will be hoping to feature against Kasımpaşa this evening and mark his return to action with a goal.
