Victor Osimhen has delivered a confident message ahead of Juventus’s crucial meeting with Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian striker says the Turkish champions have travelled to Turin determined to make life difficult for their Italian opponents and secure qualification for the next round.

Galatasaray visit the Allianz Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie after earning an impressive 5-2 victory in Istanbul last week. Osimhen played a key role in that win, providing two assists and constantly troubling the Juventus defence.

Despite former Italy coach Vincenzo Montella backing Juventus to produce a comeback, Osimhen insists Galatasaray are focused on completing the task they began in the first leg rather than defending their advantage.

“I think tomorrow’s match will be quite difficult,” Osimhen said at the pre-match press conference.

“We are ready for it, we have completed our preparations and we are waiting for our opponent. As in the first match, in the second match we will aim not only to protect the score we achieved, but also to play our own game by attacking.

“As our coach said, we are ready for our opponent; we have completed our preparations in this direction.”

Victor Osimhen: Injury scare eased

Osimhen missed Galatasaray’s league game at the weekend, a surprising 2-0 defeat away to Konyaspor, after suffering what the club described as a knee problem.

However, the Super Eagles forward now appears ready to start in Turin and praised the club’s medical staff for helping him recover quickly.

“First of all, I want to thank our medical team. They gave me tremendous support. I can say that I recovered very quickly thanks to their care and help.”

The 27-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding Champions League campaign so far, recording six goals and two assists. Only four players have scored more goals than him in this season’s competition.

Osimhen also continues to strengthen his place in Nigerian football history, having become the country’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Champions League with 15 goals overall. It is a record he will hope to extend as Galatasaray attempt to seal their place in the round of 16.
