Super Eagles and Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface has revealed his aim for the 2025/2026 season with Horst Steffen’s side, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 24-year-old moved to the Werser Stadion on loan from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on the transfer deadline day and has had a hard time settling in.
Boniface hasn’t scored a goal for Werder, but he’s been able to conjure up two assists from eight games so far.

Boniface speaks on poor goalscoring form
While he came off the bench to play a part in Werder Bremen’s win over VfL Wolfsburg, questions were still raised about the striker’s lack of scoring touch. However, the team is his priority.
“Yeah, football is like life, you know, sometimes you have these good moments,” Boniface said in quotes revealed by SABC Sports.
“Sometimes you have bad moments, but the most important thing for me is how to find the right way.
“It’s not about me scoring also, it’s about the results of the team in general.
“I can be scoring and we are losing, I don’t want that. I want a situation where we can win games, and when we start winning games, then the goals will come.”
While goals build a striker’s confidence, Boniface’s aim, after suffering two cruciate ligament injuries amongst many others, is simply to stay fit and enjoy his football this season.
“For me, personally, my goal is to try to play the whole season without injury.
“When I signed here, I made it clear to the media and said as a football player, I don’t have an aim like how I want to do this, I just go with how it goes.
“The most important thing for me is to try and help the team in any way, score goals, play an injury-free season and for the team to try to achieve something good also.
“So, we’ll see how it goes.”
The former Union St.Gilloise striker lives in his own jolly world on social media, but he’s faced some tragic moments in his life on and off the pitch.
Quizzed about how he’s been able to deal with the mental effects, the 2024 Bundesliga Rookie of the Year said:
“As you said, I’m young, I grew up with my grandparents, and you know, in Africa, when you are living with your grandparents, you know how difficult it is.
“So, from there I’ve been to so many countries which in my life I would never have dreamt of or expected myself to go and play football.
“From Norway, Cyprus, these places, I have learnt a lot, even though I was still young, but I learnt a lot.
“The media are people like us who put different news online without knowing the real facts, and I’m the type of guy who doesn’t let those disturb me.
“I focus on how I can get better. When you start thinking about what people or what the media’s opinion on you is, then that’s on you.
“Some are good, of course, some motivate you, but for me, my head is strong.
“My mentality is really, really strong; I don’t really care what the media says,” a fiery Boniface remarked.
The one-time Bundesliga winner wasn’t selected to be a part of Eric Chelle’s squad that’ll take on Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs.
