Ahead of the forthcoming state congress of the Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, more resignations of its members have hit local government chapters.
In Pankshin Local Government Area, Mr. Koproda Charles Felix has tendered his resignation, while in Langtang South, Prof. Goselle Obed Nanjul has also tendered his.
In his letter dated 15 October 2025 and received on 16 October 2025, Mr. Koproda told the party that his resignation was imminent in view of the festered state of the party.
According to Koproda, the hitherto high-octane ideals of the party have become evasive and elusive.
He added, “I have watched with mounting agitation as self-interest, antagonistic interest, and opportunism pervade the space and replace positive enterprises. In view of this, there is the need to reconstruct my political boundary going forward…”
On his part, in his resignation letter dated 1 October 2025, Prof. Goselle told the PDP that he was resigning because the party no longer met up with his personal values and his responsibility to his constituents.
“After careful contemplation and reflection on my political beliefs, my personal values, my responsibilities to my constituents, and the direction in which I believe the party is heading, I am writing to formally intimate you of the resignation of my membership of over 28 years from the PDP, with effect from 1 October 2025,” Prof. Goselle stated.
It would be recalled that Mr. Koproda was a former chairmanship candidate for the PDP in Pankshin, while Prof. Goselle is a former commissioner under the incumbent administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
It would be recalled that the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) had on September 24, 2025 announced the postponement of its state congresses in Plateau and Cross River states.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement issued in Abuja at the time, said the congresses, which were earlier slated for Saturday, 27 September, will now hold on a date to be announced later.
He explained that the NWC had taken the decision to ensure proper coordination and inclusivity in the conduct of the exercises.
He appealed to party leaders, stakeholders, members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies, and the public to take note of the development.
The PDP has been conducting congresses across the country to elect new executive committees at various levels ahead of its national convention.
