Troops of the 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven conducted offensive operations in the early hours of May 31, 2025, targeting bandit hideouts near Pinau Village in Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged criminal elements active along the Pinau-Gimbi road. In the ensuing firefight, three bandits were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds, as evidenced by bloodstains found along their retreat paths.
According to the Media Information Officer of OPHS, Major Samson Zhakom, troops exploited the general area and recovered one AK-47 rifle and one AK-47 magazine.
The recovered weapon is in custody for further action.
Meanwhile, troops are conducting follow-up operations to intercept the fleeing criminals.
The statement said, “Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN will consolidate on this success, with a view to strengthening their operational capability for more robust combat operations in dealing decisively with criminals in the Joint Operations Area.”
