Operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested three men accused of raping three minors in different parts of the state.
The arrests were announced yesterday in a statement by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Abass. The suspects, a teacher, a farmer, and an elderly man, were apprehended after separate incidents.
A 26-year-old teacher, Elijah Olawale of Ijebu-Ijesa, was arrested after his wife reported that he had allegedly had carnal knowledge of her nine-year-old daughter. According to Abass, Olawale confessed to the crime, stating that he had abused the girl three years ago and had recently done so again. He reportedly said he could not understand what led him to commit the “disgraceful act.”
In a separate case, Amotekun operatives arrested 26-year-old ThankGod Friday, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, who was working as a farmer in Modakeke. He is accused of raping his employer’s 12-year-old daughter twice. Friday confessed to the crime and will be prosecuted, the statement added.
Also, 60-year-old Adeleke Sodiq was arrested in Ode-Omu for allegedly raping a six-year-old toddler. The statement noted that the man confessed to luring the child into his room with money before assaulting her.
The Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, Isaac Omoyele, has warned residents against committing crimes and vowed that the arrested culprits will be prosecuted.
