Coach Rui Vitoria was sacked after Cyriel Dessers’ full debut, and Panathinaikos are now looking to appoint a new coach….
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez is one of the coaches that is being considered to take over at Panathinaikos, Soccernet.ng reports.
At the start of the week, Panathinaikos confirmed the sack of former coach Rui Vitoria, following a disappointing 3-2 loss to Kifisia on Sunday. However, they are yet to appoint a replacement.
Panathinaikos have to get a new coach soon as they are challenging for the Greek Super League, the League Cup, and the UEFA Europa League.

For a club at their level, they can’t afford the biggest managers in Europe right now, but there are still some managers who would be a good fit.
According to Scottish outlet, The Sun, of the coaches that the Greek giants are looking at is former Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez. The Spaniard has been out of job since he was dismissed at Celta Vigo last year.
However, he has a rich CV, having managed some of the biggest clubs in the world like Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.
How Rafa Benitez Could Affect Cyriel Dessers
Cyriel Dessers completed his transfer to Panathinaikos just over two weeks ago, and he is yet to settle.
But with a coach like Benitez, who has worked with a lot great strikers like Cristiano Ronaldo, Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres, and Gonzalo Higuain in the course of his career, Dessers might actually click under his tutelage.
The Super Eagles star will be hoping that his new club makes the right decisions and get a manager to stabilize things.
