The Super Falcons of Nigeria hit a snag upon resuming camp for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Friday, as some players had their money and personal belongings stolen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria opened their WAFCON 2026 training camp on July 15 in Mohammedia, a coastal city in Morocco.
Then, on Friday, they moved to the Marriott Hotel in Rabat, where they will be based for the duration of their group stage matches for the competition.
On the day of their arrival, some players — including Chiamaka Nnadozie, Esther Okoronkwo, and Michelle Alozie — had money and personal belongings stolen.
The players shared videos on social media warning the public against patronizing the hotel. According to their accounts, well over $1,000 went missing.

Fresh Update on the Super Falcons’ Stolen Properties
Following the players’ complaints on social media, the culprit has reportedly been identified and apprehended.
According to veteran Nigerian sports journalist Obong Colin, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft and has confessed to the crime.
The suspect is expected to return all stolen items and face prosecution.
This is a welcome development for the Super Falcons as WAFCON 2026 kicks off. It will provide them with a renewed sense of security and justice, and so, they can fully focus on their upcoming games.
