Super Eagles forward Akor Adams enjoyed a debut to remember as he inspired Venezia to a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Modena in the Coppa Italia Round of 32, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old had completed a move to the newly promoted Serie A side earlier this summer in a deal that could rise to €23 million, and he made an immediate impact on his debut, playing a part in all three goals scored by his side.

The clash at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo produced five goals, with Venezia coming from behind twice to secure their place in the next round of the competition.

However, it was the visitors who made the brighter start, with Giuseppe Ambrosino tapping home in the 17th minute to put Modena ahead.

Adams marked his Venezia debut with an equaliser nine minutes later, firing a superb effort into the top corner to bring his side level.

Modena responded before half-time, though, as Ambrosino grabbed his second goal of the game 13 minutes after Adams’ equaliser to restore the visitors’ lead.

The game appeared to be heading towards a disappointing start to Adams’ Venezia career until the Super Eagles forward took control in the closing stages.

The Nigerian striker latched onto a long ball and raced towards goal before seeing his effort saved by the goalkeeper. He reacted quickly to the rebound, delivering a cross into the box for John Yeboah to head home in the 83rd minute and bring Venezia level.

Just two minutes later, Adams completed the comeback. The Super Eagles forward found the back of the net again to complete his brace and send Venezia into the Round of 16, where they will face Udinese.

Super Eagles player ratings: Why Akor Adams earned a 9.2 rating

Akor Adams produced a brilliant debut in front of the Venezia fans, showing his quality, attacking threat and clinical finishing to help his new side progress to the next round of the Coppa Italia.

The 26-year-old had the most touches in the opposition box in the match, with nine, while he also recorded the highest number of shots in the game with six.

Adams converted two of those efforts into goals and also finished the match with three shots on target. The former Montpellier striker also created two chances for his teammates and was heavily involved in Venezia’s attacking play throughout the game.
